History of Gebrueder Mayer GmbH

1958 - Gebrueder Mayer

Founded by Mr. Mayer Sr. for his two sons. Based in Constance, Germany, the company is expanded under the leadership of Helmut E. Mayer to become a specialist manufacturer of precision templates.

1962 - Electronics development

Specialization in layouts for printed circuits.

1963 - Artwork

Manufacturing with traces and pads carefully ink-drawn on aluminum circuit boards.

1965 - mayprint

Becoming the first European manufacturer to offer over 80 different types of grids.

1966 - Precision reprography

With the main focus remaining on electronics, our range of reprographic tasks expands to include customers in optics, measurement, control and satellite technology and other precision-related fields.

1967 - Circuit prints

1967 - Precision originals

Creating artwork with an accuracy of 5 µm for 20-inch multilayers.

1968- maytape

First production of maytape for use of special characters.

1968 - mayscope

Creating special templates such as pole divisions and encoder discs and strips.

1972 - Precision scales

Manufacturing of proprietary GM scales from chrome glass.

1973 - Coding systems

Expanding our range of encoder and impulse discs and timing strips.

1981 - CAD

Introducing CAD as an in-house software extension.

1982 - Circuit boards

Expanding our template PCB production in small and large series by 2020.

1985 - CAD

Expanding our CAD facilities with monitor workstations.

1987 - Fusion

Merging EDC + SCS.

1988 - CAD

Rolling out new CAD systems and AUTOCAD software for designing customized templates.

1995 - Mayplex-C

Developing our own proprietary material specifically designed for encoder and timing discs, strips and apertures, made from polycarbonate and plexiglass coated with photographic emulsion.

1997 - Introducing Mayplex-C und Mayplex-M.

2000 - Company relocation into larger premises.

2003 - Introducing CNC mills.

For machining complex shapes.

2010 - Expanding production with CNC machines featuring camera-supported positioning systems.

2015 - Expanding our product range with reflective discs.
